Point Game

Overview

The Point Game is a game for 3 to 5 players.  The game objective is to score the most points.  The game may be played with gross scores or net handicaps.  Each hole has a total purse of points that will be distributed among the competitors after the completion of each hole.  Each hole has the same purse value.  Every point in the hole’s purse will be distributed completely after each hole.  The lowest score on the hole will receive the most points, the highest score on the hole will receive the fewest points, ties will split points.  3-Somes, 4-Somes, and 5-Somes will have different purse totals.  The total point purse per hole is equal to the number of players in the group squared (example: a 4-some has a per hole point purse of 16 points).

3-Some Scoring

The total point purse per hole for a threesome is 9 points:

Lowest score = 5 points

Middle score = 3 points

Highest score = 1 point

If all three players card the same score on a hole, they would each earn 3 points.  If two players tie for the low score, they would each earn 4 points.  If two players tie for the high score, they would each earn 2 points.

4-Some Scoring

The total point purse per hole for a Foursome is 16 points:

Lowest score = 7 points

Low Middle score = 5 points

High Middle score = 3 points

Highest score = 1 point                                   

If all four players card the same score on a hole, they would each earn 4 points.  If three players tie for the low score, they would each earn 5 points.  If three players tie for the high score, they would each earn 3 points.  If two players tie for the lowest score, they would each earn 6 points.  If two players tie for the highest score, they would each earn 2 points.  If two players tie for the middle score, they would each earn 4 points.

5-Some Scoring

The total point purse per hole for a fivesome is 25 points:

Lowest score = 9 points

Low Middle score = 7 points

Middle score = 5 points

High Middle score = 3 points

Highest score = 1 point                                   

If all five players card the same score on a hole, they would each earn 5 points.  If four players tie for the lowest score, they would each earn 6 points.  If four players tie for the highest score, they would each earn 4 points.  If three players tie for the lowest score, they would each earn 7 points.  If three players tie for the highest score, they would each earn 3 points.  If three players tie for the middle score, they would each earn 5 points.  If two players tie for the lowest score, they would each earn 8 points.  If two players tie for the highest score, they would each earn 2 points.  If two players tie for the lower middle score, they would each earn 6 points.  If two players tie for the higher middle score, they would each earn 4 points.

Payoff

Each point has a value set at the beginning of the round.  All participants will pay each player the number of points that they have won times the set value.

Presses

There are no press options in this game.

Options

There is a sweep option.  The sweep option gives all the points in the hole’s point purse to the lowest score if the lowest score wins by 2 or more strokes on that hole.
